Jay is a neutered, indoor-only shelter rescue who is 8 years old. He is low-energy and enjoys cuddling up in laps. He's wary of guests, but will warm up to them quickly. He uses a scratching post. He's anxious and very vocal about what he doesn't like--namely, loud noises, sudden movements, and stomping. You might hear him hiss in response to these things, but this is NOT aggression! This is insecurity. Reassure him that he's safe with a gentle voice and petting, and he'll immediately calm down. He is NOT mean!! He's just scared. It is normal for him to drool a lot when purring and content. He DOES get along with low-energy, quiet dogs that won't chase him. He SHOULD NOT be housed with other cats. Jay has irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) that's exacerbated by stress, and takes daily anti-depressant tablets in the morning to help manage this. He will thrive best in a quiet, single-cat home with experienced cat owners, and SHOULD NOT live with people who have young children.
