About Rufus

American Bulldog mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

**Urgent - Need Foster/Adopter ASAP!** Meet Rufus! This good looking hunk of a boy, is Rufus and he is quite an ambassador dog!! He found himself in an overcrowded kill shelter, through no fault of his own. Record numbers of owner surrenders in shelters across Southern states, has resulted in shelters euthanising healthy pets daily, to free up kennel space. We cannot find enough fosters to keep up with the demand, often we have to place them in boarding kennels to save their lives. And to pups, a boarding kennel us just the same as a shelter kennel. Rufus is in a boarding kennel and we need to find a home for him quickly. He is approx 3 1/2 yrs old and 65 lbs of pure muscle!!! Everyone who has handled him, from the shelter staff, to the vet, to the boarding staff have all commented on Rufus being such a well behaved and loveable pup. Great with kids and absolutely loves kids. Loves people. Good with Dogs. He could be in a home with another low energy pup, or on his own, either would be fine with Rufus! Does not appear to have much of a prey drive! Not tested with cats though! Crate trained. House trained. Rufus is medium energy level, chilled out, ready to go with the flow!! Food motivated, knows some basic commands and gentle when taking treats. No separation anxiety, or vocal when you leave either. But he does need some chew toys to keep him occupied and out of trouble!! He likes his personal space to himself, don't we all? At least initially until he gets to know you and realises you are there to take care of him now. He does not like loud noises. Rufus is a sweetheart and he would do well in any kind of home, anywehere really!! So, if you or someone you know are interested in adopting Rufus. Please contact KENNEDY by email or TEXT at (802)673-9026. [NOTE: Rufus is currently being boarded in the South. Transport will be scheduled for him to be brought to the Northeastern States for serious adopters only. We will transport as close to you as we can.]
