About SHEP

Pointer mix
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

Name: SHEP Breed: Hound Mix Age: 1.5 years old (50#) Sex: Male (Neutered) Location: Oklahoma County, OK Vet Info: UTD on vaccines. HW negative. 'My wife is a veterinarian and has provided all his health care. He was taken for evaluation by an ophthalmologist and it was found he has retinal degeneration. He does appear to have a little bit of vision and it would be great to get him into a permanent home before all vision is lost. I do not think he would not do well in a shelter environment.' Owner reports: Shep was found as a stray and is being helped by a good Samaritian who is unable to keep him long term. 'He is a great dog. He was 'potty trained' from the start, he is kennel trained, good with cats, other dogs, sweet, enjoys being active outside (limited by his blindness), and also enjoys being part of family chill time.' Shep is described as an indoor dog with the run of then house. He is reported to be house broken and leash trained. Shep know the following command: 'Kennel: goes to lay in his kennel. We are working on sit and stay.' Shep is reported to be outgoing, good with adults, other dogs and cats. 'Our kids are now young adults and Shep just hasn't had any opportunity to be around children. On our walks he is attentive to voices of people we pass and has not reacted with barking or aggressive behavior. At this time I predict that he'd be good with children. Also, he was well behaved and easy to work with at my clinic and at the ophthalmology clinic..' Caretaker reports that Shep adapted to their backyard within 1 week. 'He is kind, cheerful, curious, good with cats, enjoys playing with humans and his dog housemates (he tolerates without complaint their impatience with his bumping into them) kennel trained (just say 'kennel Shep' he takes his memorized routes to it), fairly easy to bathe, of course potty trained, working on his leash skills.' Can anyone help sweet Shep? **Owner Surrender Disclaimer: These are blind and visually impaired dogs who are living in homes, but their owners can no longer keep them.
