About Ginger

Adoption Fee: $25
Redbone Coonhound
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Posted on 10/13/23, and the picture was taken on 10/6/23. Ginger was a stray found in Tyler in July 2020. An elderly man had tried for 5 weeks to catch her prior to contacting me. She would not go in a live trap or a wire crate with twine tied to the door, so we ended up turning a horse barn into a live trap. We blocked off all but one entrance, and she followed the man's 4 year old grandson into the barn. We quickly sealed the open end up with a foldable puppy play pen, and got her into a stall. I had to put a leash around each leg and her neck to make an instant harness, which she tried to chew up on the way to my truck. I treated her, got her spayed, and brought her back to the elderly man when he was ready with a fenced in area. She was estimated to be one year old on 8/21/20 when she was spayed weighing 36 pounds. On 7/13/23, she weighed 50.3 pounds. He spoiled her, let her come inside his house, and he passed away in December 2022. His daughter contacted me to help find her another home. Besides being house trained, someone trained her to walk on the left side of a person with a leash on. She is still skittish with new people, but is eager to get attention from a new person when she can trust that person, and loves children. I will have to be able to drive her to any home interested in her. She is heartworm negative, and on prevention. $25 adoption fee.
