Piper was brought into the shelter on 9/6, as an owner surrender. Her previous owner had her for 7 months. Piper lived with a cat, another female dog, and children ages of 3, 8, and 13. She did well with the children and was even tolerant of the 3-year-old pulling on her ear. Piper was kenneled and free roaming in the home and she was never destructive. Piper knows commands of sit, lay down and kennel and was in the process of clicker training. This sweet 2 year and 7-month-old dog is needing a home where she is the only dog as she doesn't like competing for attention and food. Her previous family made some mistakes but tried their hardest to correct the situation. Even though Piper needs to be an only dog, she has lived successfully with a cat, and we are recommending slow and safe introductions. The shelter also has placed the requirement that children in the home need to be 5 years and older. Piper is 58 lbs. and is able to jump a 4-foot-high fence.
