About Grace

German Shorthaired Pointer
Age: Adult
Sex: Female

PLACEMENT REQUIREMENTS: Grace is good with other dogs. A fenced yard and perhaps another dog friend will be perfect for Grace in her new forever home. GRACE'S STORY: Grace is a beautiful black and white GSP with a natural tail. She is approximately 6 years old, weighs about 60 pounds, and is as sweet as they come. Lively and loving for sure. Before coming to ISR, Grace was a stray and pregnant when she was found. Needless to say, her situation presented her with a pretty rough life while she was out on her own. We're unsure how long she was out on her own as a mother-to-be, but since she's been with her foster family, she has truly blossomed! Grace loves people and is so sweet and we're hoping for a home with a family that wants to pamper and spoil her as she deserves. Grace is very friendly and loves people and the other dogs she lives with. She's become your typical GSP Velcro dog and will continue to blossom with a family that wants to include her in their activities, whether inside or outside. Her foster family has succeeded in making little Grace an impressive jogging partner, which Grace thoroughly enjoys! Grace is able to jog along side her running partner with great ease and for lengthy periods of time'|and she does all of this without pulling on her leash and staying calm. It's quite common for people passing by to stop Grace and her foster mom to comment on what a beautiful girl Grace is and how polite and well-behaved she is, too! Grace is particularly fond of the 6-month-old puppy she lives with, and it shows. They spend a lot of time playing and enjoying life to the fullest. If Grace isn't playing with her puppy pal, she'll find doggy toys to occupy her time. She's very respectful of her older dog siblings and understands they don't want to play with her as much as her puppy pal, so she leaves them be and moves on to other interests. Grace routinely raids the doggy toy box and seems to prefer the plastic toys over the plush ones; however, she does demolish the plastic toys quickly so she'll require supervision to ensure she doesn't swallow something that can harm her. Kong toys provide her with the chewing she craves without being much of a hazard. Grace only has moderate prey drive, so she isn't a handful when out on a run and doesn't continually seek out prey when in the yard. She's aware of the barn cats at her foster's home and of squirrels when she's on a run, but she doesn't seem preoccupied with them and is easily redirected to ignore them. When her foster family goes out and about in the car, Grace is more than ready and very happy to ride along. She sits calmly in the middle of the back seat so she can get the best view over the dash in the front seat; however, her foster mom says she has noticed that Grace will get carsick if she's fed before taking a car trip. Grace isn't fond of being in a crate, but she will go in when needed. She'd much rather be out with her family and enjoys taking part in whatever they're doing at the time. As we mentioned, Grace is a true Velcro dog and after her rough beginnings, we think it's only appropriate she receives all the love and joy she can while learning to be a fun-loving, loyal, and happy family pet. Her foster family have cherished their time with little Grace and while hating to let her go, realize there is another family out there who will love and spoil Grace, too.
