Arf! Arf, everyone! I'm Leica, a sweet, cuddly, and friendly 23-pound apricot and white wire-coated Portuguese Podengo pequeno/ Fox Terrier mix gal who was born about September 2021. I soak it up when my foster family pets me. Boy howdy! I love their attention! I get along great with humans of all ages -- adults as well as kids - and cats as well as other dogs. Only thing is that I want to hug the little resident dog! I'm a playful gal who entertains myself with my beloved toys, which I keep with me on the couch once I've finished playing with them. I easily learned to use the doggy door, and when I go out in the yard with my foster family, I listen to their commands and never try to run into the street. They haven't walked me on a leash but think I would do great because I pick up things so quickly. It helps to have smarts! 'Pequenos' are the smallest of the three sizes of Portuguese Podengos. We're lively, alert, highly intelligent, and independent hounds who make excellent family companions. We're tolerant, compliant, and eager to please our family. Loyal, easy-going, and loving, we make strong bonds with our family but can sometimes be suspicious of strangers. I hope there's someone in your family who wants to be my playmate! We're funny dogs who love to play - especially a good game of chase. We're always ready for action and excel in dog sports like agility and fly-ball. We need plenty of daily exercise to keep us both physically and mentally stimulated. If our exercise needs are not met and we're bored, we can be destructive. True confessions! I like to chew and shred paper, so Foster Mom has learned to keep paperback books out of my reach. I'm homeless because my owner abandoned me when he moved out of our apartment. I was infested with fleas and ticks, but thank heavens, a Good Samaritan rescued me, gave me a flea bath (which felt great!), and turned to Miss Donna to find me a wonderful forever home. Leica is updated on shots, spayed, dewormed, microchipped, and heartworm negative. His adoption fee is $250 for dogs older than 9 months. An application must be filled out prior to adoption.
