Farrah is an 8 year old, 9 pound Shih Tzu mix LOCATION: Pensacola, FL NEEDS: Love �%9D%A4��%8F HIGHLIGHTS: Sweet, gentle, well behaved girl Farrah has a bad back story... and a guardian angel. Her owner went into a facility and the son took Farrah in, supposedly to find her a new home. Some time after that someone working on the property opened a shed and found her there in 110� heat, in a small crate with no food and water, skin and bone, covered in her own poop. That's how he was going about finding her a new home! When confronted by the person who discovered her the son said he didn't know what to do with her. The finder told him he was taking the dog one way or the other and the son gave her to him. Thank goodness! That man saved this little girl's life. He took her home to his family and they took her to a groomer and got her up to a healthy weight and then turned us for help. We couldn't say no. Farrah is just the sweetest girl. She enjoys attention and a lap. She likes cuddles, but also likes spending time at the other end of the sofa. Farrah is good with other small dogs and would probably enjoy the company of a similarly sized dog that matches her laid back energy. She likes a little play time with one of her foster fursiblings, but gets tired of his intensity and will hide under the bed when she has had enough. She really likes a little gentle wrestle time with her foster mom best. Her finder said that she likes toys and she was around their cats with no problem. They also had a toddler, but his activity level is a little much for her. Farrah is good in the car, loves to go on walks, and is good on the leash. She is pretty well house trained as long as she is let out frequently. She will sit by the door when she needs to go potty. She likes to be brushed, and she sheds! At bedtime she likes a little scratching and some cuddles, then sleeps on the other side of the big bed. Farrah been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, fecal tested, heartworm negative, has had a 12 month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. She does still need to be spayed and that is scheduled next week at one of our vets and is covered by the rescue. We can't imagine how heartbreaking it was for this poor dog to lose her mom and then get shoved in a crate and left in a shed to die. We are looking for the best home for her with someone who will treasure and cherish her for the rest of her life! Puppies, dogs with pending vet appointments, and dogs with behavioral issues are only adoptable within a 1 hour drive to Pensacola. Most others we will consider within a 5-hour drive. We do not ship or transport our dogs. *We are a foster-based rescue and do not have a facility. Our dogs live in private homes in and around the Pensacola area until they are adopted.
