Peanut has been many things over the course of his life; a family dog, a hiking dog, a barn dog, a beach dog, a studio dog, an office dog, a big brother (to a mastiff, a spaniel, and two little girls), and my dog... for 17 years. Yup, the photo with the birthday cake toy is from his 17th birthday this June. He may be old in years but you would never know it. People still mistake him for a puppy, he still gets the zoomies (and he's FAST), and the vet says he's in great health every visit. He's the most amazing breed ambassador. Everyone says he's the 'chillest' Pomeranian they've ever met. He never ever barks (unless left alone for an extended period), he's amazing with all people including children and babies, and we joke that he's a therapy dog for other dogs because of his friendly and calm nature. He loves cuddles and scratches, treats, walks, going to the office, meeting new people, and most of all, sleeping in a comfy bed. I would say he's trained, but since he's gone almost totally deaf he can't hear commands anymore! You can take him literally anywhere and do anything with him and he's totally flexible and happy as long as he's near his humans. Unfortunately, we are about to permanently relocate to Australia, and we can't put Peanut through the month-long quarantine so we are looking for a loving permanent home for him here. He eats wet food twice a day (he only has 5 teeth left!), and though he can hold it overnight he typically needs to go potty every 3-4 hours since he's old and can't hold it. He also has separation anxiety and will bark if left alone for extended periods. He's a senior, but we think Peanut has some good years still left in him and he deserves a happy place to spend them. As much as it breaks our hearts, we know we can't take him with us, but we hope he can find a new home to love him just as much.
