Name: ELIJAH BLUE Kennel ID: 13 Hold Ends: September 8, 2023 Breed: Terrier x Appearance: Blue/white Gender: Neutered Male Estimated Age: ~ 1yr and 8mths. Estimated Weight: 50lbs Health: HW Negative and has no current issues. He originally arrived at the shelter thin and in need of TLC. He couldn't tell us his story but we would later find out that the person that was supposed to protect him was the person that hurt him and he was part of a criminal investigation. As he played we noticed that his gait seemed a bit off. X-rays showed that it was a miracle that he was able to walk, run, and play. Both femoral bones had broken heads. He had the injury so long that the ligaments and tissues around the broken bones had adapted/healed. Not knowing if they would hold much longer as he gained weight our vet referred us to a specialist for FHO surgery. We were able to raise funds to cover the surgery. 4/24/23 he went in to have both repaired. He did wonderfully and his surgery was a success. Personality: EJ is a goofy boy that can easily put a smile on your face. He is so full of life and he considers everyone he meets to be a forever friend. Not once has he let his past or medical issues slow him down. He has been affectionate and playful the whole way. Housetrained: To be determined. Other Dogs: He does well with other dogs and would love to have a playmate of his own. Cats: He is very curious and forward when meeting cats. He does a lot of pushing and poking with his nose. We recommend using caution until he shows that he can be trusted with them. Children: We do not have children to test him with. Leash: He didn't know much about a leash in the beginning but he is very smart and caught on quickly. Now he is a pro that loves going for walks. Additional Information: He received previous rescue commitment but it's been 8 months and they have been unable to pick him up because of various reasons. This guy's personality is way bigger than living a life of solitude in a kennel. We give him as much enrichment as we can. He loves toys and swimming but he really wants to be the sidekick to a person of his own. We would love to find his forever place so we can save more dogs from the shelter.
