Name: Cider Age: 9 - 10 years (estimated) Sex: Male (confirmed neutered) Breed: Spaniel mix, 28 - 30 pounds Location: Washington County, OR Vet Info: Cider had a one-year rabies vaccine in January 2023 per his owner. He is confirmed neutered and microchipped. He has not had a recent heartworm test. Cider's owner tells us he was diagnosed with SARDS in approximately March, 2022, and 'completely blind in 2 months. Otherwise he has a level 1 heart murmur and perfect health.' Dog Info: Cider is a gorgeous mix whose owner has been diagnosed with a serious health issue and is no longer able to care for him. He was originally adopted from a shelter five years ago and they suggested she contact us. She is very much hoping we can help. Cider is an indoor dog with run of the house. He currently uses pee pads in the house as his owner is no longer able to take him for walks outside, but she tells us he was housebroken prior to that. He is leash trained. Cider can be very shy and may take some time to adapt to a new home. He's best with women (he was frightened by men when his owner first got him), but his owner writes, 'Since his blindness, he's gotten better as he cannot see the size of the people around him, and he has become more willing to except new people.' He is also good with other dogs and cats. He is not possessive of treats, toys, or food and has never bitten or snapped or shown aggression. Cider's owner also wants us to know he's a special boy and she's grateful for our help. She writes, 'I truly can no longer take care of him. I can't take him out for walks and he is so shy he won't go with anyone else. He needs a home where the family/person love him and have the energy for him.'
