Meet Lula! Lula is a 10-year-old, 13 lb. Chihuahua who found herself alone and trembling at an overcrowded city shelter. The world can be a scary place when you are small, and Lula growled and barked to keep everyone away. This led her to being quickly timestamped, which brought her to our attention. During her freedom ride she took one last look at the shelter, said 'I'm outta here!', and happily curled up in a dog bed. Sometimes the hardest part of fostering is not knowing what these sweet babies went through before they came into our care. Lula is listed with us as a 'special needs' pup because she has trouble with trust. She doesn't like strangers. Lula will need to be the only pet in a very quiet, adult-only household. She walks great on a leash but will try and lunge at passing cars, bikes, or animals, so a quiet neighborhood or fenced-in yard would be ideal. Lula didn't require much vetting. She received a dental and spay and was found to have a thyroid condition that requires twice daily medication. The cost for this is $20 a month. Lula is fully housebroken and can also use a pee pad if necessary. She has no problem with stairs. Lula will require a patient owner, but she has a lot of love to give. She loves to sit with her person once she is comfortable with them and enjoys going on twice daily walks. She is super fast and loves running around the yard chasing anything that moves. Lula enjoys playing with toys and balls and will provide endless entertainment. She is also great on car rides. This super-soft, sassy Chihuahua needs a home that can let her live her best life. Can you find room in yours?
