**URGENT - Skye needs an adopter ASAP!!** The only family this sweetheart had ever known dumped her at an overcrowded shelter in NC!!!!! Our rescue saved Skye at the very last minute, after she had been placed on the euthanasia list, through no fault of her own, just to free up kennel space! Skye is a 5 year old female who was adopted from that same shelter as a puppy. Sadly, the family surrendered her back to the shelter for no known reason. This poor girl had lived in a home for all of her 5 yrs and can not understand why she was dumped at the shelter, let alone an overcrowded one and then scheduled for euthanasia!! No pup deserves this kind of treatment - this sweetheart really needs a break. The report from the shelter ssid Skye had been very quiet in her kennel, patiently waiting for her turn to go out for a walk. She walked past the other kennels without interacting, excited to be with a person and spending time outside. If you scroll through her pictures, you see a very expressive, engaging smile-an expression that says: 'Let's do something fun - I'm ready!' Are you interested in long walks? Skye loves long walks. Do you like to snuggle on the couch and watch Netflix ? Skye loves TV. But best of all, she likes people. She is out of that puppy stage, and to spend the rest of ALL of her adult years with a loving committed family. Skye is on the potty trained list-so she would probably be easy to house train. Skye is eager to please - knows sit and takes her treats gently as her reward for being such a good listener. During her time at the shelter, Skye spent the afternoon at a volunteer's house and she had very good manners. In the car she wanted to stand on the center console and watch the cars pass as if she was watching a tennis match!!! She is very alert and tuned in to her surroundings. It didn't take her long to find the most comfortable spot on the couch-snoozing or while watching her favorite show - Pitbulls and Parolees!! She also enjoyed checking out the birds at the outside feeder. BUT she was most content when trying to climb in a lap, Giving kisses and rolling on her back for belly rubs and butt scratches. Skye eas not alarmed when the doorbell rang and 2 strange men were knocking on the door. She greeted them with a sniff and a tail wag-and all was good. So probably not guard dog material!! Skye is very eager to learn. She is very treat motivated and 'sits' nicely without being asked-when the treats come out. She does need work on being the first one out the door but listens well to correction. If your family can help this sweet girl move on from her past-she would love to have a second chance at a family to love. Skye would be best to be the only pet in the home, so she can get all the attention she deserves. Skye is up to date on vaccinations, flea/tick, and heartworm prevention, is microchipped, and is already spayed. So, if you or someone you know are interested in adopting beautiful Skye. Please contact KENNEDY by email or text at (802)673-9026. [NOTE: Skye is currently being fostered in the South. Transport will be scheduled for her to be brought to the Northeastern states for serious adopters only.]
