About Joey

Fox Terrier mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE BIO ON THIS DOG BEFORE REQUESTING AN APPLICATION. MANY OF OUR DOGS HAVE STRICT REQUIREMENTS FOR THEIR ADOPTION. 2-year-old male Toy Fox Terrier mix, about 8 pounds. Do you all remember Smidget 'Chris' that we had available late last year? I swear to God, this is his brother!! They are identical in color, size, mannerisms, and temperament. They came out of the same shelter from the same city! It's uncanny! Joey is a combination of chill couch snuggle bug and whirly gig! He is loyal, sweet and loves to be held and cuddled. He also loves to run and chase and play with dogs that are calm and confident. He will form a very strong bond with his people and would like to go with you everywhere. He sticks to his foster person like glue but is ready to have his own person to love and follow around the house. Being a Terrier, he will alert to strangers in the driveway and bark at strangers coming into the house. However, he is a friendly guy once he is introduced. He also likes to tell you all about how being left alone is terrible! But he will settle down once you leave the house. Joey lives with many dogs in his foster home but takes time to warm up to new dogs. Joey would do best in a home with a fenced yard where he is the only dog or with another small dog to match his energy and with proper introductions. Joey sleeps well in his crate at night and walks very well on a leash. Joey has shown some resource guarding of his foster person towards other dogs and children. He needs an owner who is willing to provide Joey with the training he needs to discourage this behavior. Respectful older children over 12 years old or an adult only household would work the best. To request an adoption application, email [email protected] Adoption contract and fee applies. All adoptable dogs can be met at adoption events hosted every weekend. For a list of scheduled events go to: https://www.facebook.com/SmidgetRescue/events . Smidget Rescue is not a shelter, and dogs cannot be seen at the Rescue location. All dogs are fostered throughout the Puget Sound area and are brought to the events where they can be met by prospective adopters. Additional pictures of adoptable dogs can be seen at: https://www.facebook.com/SmidgetRescue/photos_stream?tab=photos_albums. All adoptable dogs are spayed or neutered at 6 months of age or older. Puppies are adopted with a refundable spay/neuter deposit (in addition to the adoption fee) and adopters are required to get their puppy to our vet for their pre-scheduled spay-neuter appointments. APPLICATIONS CAN BE OBTAINED BY EMAIL ONLY. Adoption process includes application, meet & greet, home visit and reference check. Email Jamie at [email protected] or click on the CONTACT link on this page. PLEASE DOUBLE CHECK YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS BEFORE SENDING. We get a fair number of incorrect emails and Jamie is not able to contact potential adopters. Notice: We do not ship dogs out of state. You must live within a three-hour radius of Seattle, WA, (such as Portland, Vancouver B.C., etc.), so we can arrange for a home visit. If your home seems like a great fit for the dog you would like to adopt, you must then drive to meet the dog at one of our weekend events or at the fosters home.
