About Goose

German Shepherd mix
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

The decision to rehome Goose was a difficult but necessary decision because having a nervous dog and a young child with autism is not a good match in this family's case. Meet Goose! A sweet cuddle master who will sit on the couch with you all day in exchange for a lap to lay his head on. He's low maintenance and enjoys the simple things in life! Seven-year-old, 60-pound Goose is a handsome and loving boy who looks like a German Shepherd and Blue Heeler mix. At 7-years-old and 60 pounds, he has lived in Rockland, MA since puppyhood. However, several changes within his family unit have not agreed with Goose's preference for peace and quiet. Though very loved, Goose is being rehomed because the house is now a frenzy of toddlers and teens. This lifestyle makes Goose extremely anxious. He is looking for a home with no young children or dogs because of this anxiety. Goose really just likes to lounge around and be loved on. He'd be great for a TV sports fanatic. He is not interested in toys but enjoys walks. However, he'll need to brush up on his walking manners. Goose was very well-behaved, to include walking and passing by other dogs, when he had his older canine brother. Once his pal passed away things haven't been the same. He has grown confused about who is in charge and tries to rule the roost. He also developed overprotective behavior for his people and his home. Goose yearns for a confident but gentle handler who he can look to for direction. Goose is truly a loving and sweet dog who is easy to please. He is neutered and recently had a vet checkup to include blood work, which was normal. He is ok when left at home alone for a typical work day. He doesn't need a crate. Goose has shown he can be an amazing companion, he just needs the right person and environment to return to his old self. By adopting Goose, you will also be helping a family facing the challenges of raising a young child with autism.
