Riley had a tough start to life - he was found as a very skinny and friendly stray in Dec 2022. He has been in foster since, and now he is healthy and ready for adoption! Riley is a beautiful and intelligent male GSD who is estimated to be 6 years old and weighs 72 pounds. He is heartworm negative, up-to-date with vaccinations and general vet care, and neutered and microchipped. He has health insurance that can be transferred to the adopter. Despite being found as a stray, Riley is a quick learner - he is housebroken and crate-trained, and has mastered basic obedience, loose-leash walking, and some tricks (paw/handshake, rollover, spin). He wants to please his person, but he also really wants to chase his ball and dramatically moan when he cannot reach it! He also has loved beginner agility training. Riley's main challenge is leash reactivity towards other dogs and cyclists. He has been going through intensive training at Canine PhD to gain general life skills and work on his reactivity, and is currently taking Prozac. Riley would do best in with a GSD-experienced pawrent, in a home with a fenced yard, and no other dogs/cats/children. While he does not have any separation anxiety, he deserves a person/family who will spend time with him and continue his training - he is a working dog and too smart to just sit on the couch or be outside by himself! Riley is a sweet and loyal pup with so much to offer, and his companionship will make your life infinitely more meaningful and fun.
