Please meet 'Piper' This beautiful dog was surrendered to a shelter in NC as a request for euthanasia. The previous owner stated she was unpredictable and trying to bite family members. We are not certain if this is accurate because we have not seen any aggression whatsoever from Piper. Also the owners kept referring to Piper as a 'he' and she is a female dog, so we were just not sure if their statements were accurate. Staff has reported her to be quite delightful and engaging and loves to be petted on her head. Seems like she has a smile on her face at times and walks with a commanding prancing presence. Due to owner report of trying to bite, she was muzzled for vaccinations by shelter staff as a precaution - no aggression shown whatsoever. Note, per previous owner she is NOT good with dogs or cats. Prior history: Piper was adopted in 2022 originally. The owner stated that she bit in the last 10 days but did not break the skin. The shelter has had multiple people state that their dog bit in order to get an earlier appointment to surrender their dog since all shelters are full. Owner also stated that her behavior had worsened in the last month then she stated the dog had never bitten anyone but did try to snap at her grandchildren and the rest of the family. Owner stated that does a weird teeth, clicking noise. She showed us a video and the video was just of the dog chewing on the shoe. We believe there are conflicting reports about this dog and she deserves a chance. We currently have Piper in a very short term foster situation in NC and need to find her a long term foster or permanent home. Again, she needs to be the only pet in the home.
