About Buttercup

Buttercup is a 1-year old Chiweenie (Chihuahua and Dachshund mix) and Yorkie mix who weighs around 8 lbs. She and possibly her Mom were abandoned in a rural area in WV. They were fending for themselves when a local person saw them and started feeding them. However they were extremely fearful, almost feral, and animal control had to come out and trap them. Buttercup will need a patient adopter without small children in the home. Possibly someone who has experience with a fearful dog. She is very sweet once she trusts her people. She is very submissive and will tinkle when scared. She is doing great with the house-training and mostly does her potty outside. She is crate-trained but will huddle in her crate when scared. Her foster just puts some washable diapers with a liner on each morning to catch any of the submissive tinkles. Buttercup will need to go into a home with a fenced backyard where her humans can help her with leash-training. She would not do well with city-living or a very busy home. She has gotten along with the other dogs in her foster home that range from a 8-lb to 65-lb dog. However, she would do best as an only dog in order to get the attention and training needed, or with another confident dog in the home that can show her the ropes. Buttercup is spayed, up to date on vaccines and micro-chipped.
