About Dexter

Dexter is a six year old sable German Shepherd, who is a big, loveable goofball. He is the world's biggest lover of belly rubs and ear scritches, and he'll grace you with the silliest groan if you hit *just* the right spot in his ear, lol. Dexter does take time to get used to new people, but once he's comfortable around you, he'll be your best friend and entrust you with the highest honor of throwing his favorite ball. Because Dexter has some behavioral issues around other animals, stemming from anxiety he would do best in a home as the only pet and with owners that are both experienced in dealing with big dogs (he is a *big guy*) and dogs with reactivity. Dexter's main problem areas occur when he's leashed and sees dogs in what he would consider 'his area'. We did have great success in allowing him off leash at our local dog park because he mostly kept to himself and played with his toys. Dexter needs someone that will be patient and take the time to understand his boundaries.
