About Maizie

Looking to rehome our girl, Maizie. She is an adorable 2 year old Great Pyrenees/Australian Shepherd mix (full DNA panel provided). She is very loyal to her 'pack' and loves to play - biking, wrestling, chasing, fetch. She is fully trained and knows many commands, like sit, touch, spin, leave it, and more. She is very typical of her breeds, and is high energy with a guarding/herding instinct, but also loves to lay on the couch and get belly rubs. She is so goofy and has quite the personality. She will also be sure to alert you of any people or animals nearby. Maizie needs a home with no other dogs or cats, no young children, and infrequent visitors. A large yard to run and explore with a physical fence or tie out is recommended (more rural is ideal). She struggles with anxiety and can be reactive. We are rehoming her because she has shown aggression on a few occasions. Maizie has primarily displayed aggressive behavior toward people if they try to touch her when she does not want to be touched. She will create a strong bond with her new family, but will not do as well around unfamiliar people, children, or in stressful situations (vet, car rides, etc.). She has a tendency to resource guard high value treats/toys and needs to be traded in exchange for giving something up. She will walk nicely on her leash, especially if treats are provided, but will react when she sees another animal. She is very food motivated. Unfortunately she is not the right fit for us as we will be expanding our family soon. We have worked with trainers and behavioral specialists and have come to the realization that we are unable to give Maizie a life where she can thrive, where she can be herself and do what she feels comfortable doing. We would love if someone who is more experienced can give Maizie the love, compassion, and patience she deserves. She is extremely sweet to her pack and is an amazing dog to have if you live a low-key lifestyle. She does not get into any trouble. She loves to be outside and will roll around in the snow all day if you let her! Maizie is fully spayed, microchipped, house broken, and comes with all the supplies you could need - crate, bedding, collars, food, toys, and more if desired. She is just shy of 50 lbs and up to date on all vaccines. We are heartbroken to let her go and would love to receive updates on how she is doing. We have had her since she was 11 weeks old.
