About Tundra LA

Adoption Fee: $430
Australian Shepherd / Catahoula
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

Meet Tundra! Tundra is an extremely sweet and cuddly 6-month-old, Australian Shepherd/Catahoula mix puppy. His coloring is white with tan spots, and he loves being pampered at bath/brush time. Tundra is extremely smart and masters puzzle toys within minutes! Tundra is currently learning crate training, leash walking, sit and lie down. A comfy plush bed and a soft squeaky toy are his favorite things. Tundra weighs about 36.5 lbs and the vet said he will be a medium to large dog. He is very good with other dogs and loves playing tug of war with his foster sisters. Tundra has a condition called Microphthalmia, which has caused his left eye to be too small, red and blind. Microphthalmia is a genetic malnutrition that happened during gestation when his mother did not receive the right nutrients. This condition causes the eye to be underdeveloped. His right eye has limited vision, but he does not let this stop him from being 100% puppy. The vet has assured his foster family that he is healthy and happy. His eye will not need to be removed and if he is taken care of will not cause any further issues. Due to this condition though his forever family should be willing to teach him as one would a blind dog. With his limited vision he can be a bit of a velcro dog and likes to be touching his people, especially in new situations. Though he likes the comfort of his humans he is brave and enjoys slowly exploring new places like Home Depot to get all the pets from humans and pet stores. His ideal family will continue his training and work with him slowly to ensure he is comfortable with new situations like meeting people, different noises, new places, etc. Tundra will need a fenced yard due to his vision impairment. We want him to be able to run and play safely. Tundra is up to date on vaccines and preventatives as well as neutered. If Tundra sounds perfect for your family, please fill out our application: https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application There is an additional $20 microchip fee which includes registration and transfer to his new family. All adoption fees are used for future rescue efforts.
