About Pearl

Pearl is a )=10 years old, 23 pound SPAYED female Chihuahua/Miniature Pinscher Mix Originally taken in as a medical care case, happily Pearl turned out to be a normal old girl with a treatable disease, who has plenty of life & love left as well as a great appetite. Pearl is a friendly senior girl who likes a moderate amount of exercise at a moderate pace. Her appearance is affected by lipomas & hypothyroidism which is now under control with a twice daily tablet. Pearl's skin is no longer scaly or flaky. Her hair is growing back. The cost of her thyroid prescription is a mere 12 cents per day. Pearl does need a blood test done every six months to see if the dosage needs adjusting. Pearl also had a bout of what appears to have been an infected polyp in her bladder which has cleared up with medication; the condition should be monitored. Pearl had a recent dental procedure, is now toothless & so much more comfortable (not that the infected & loose teeth ever affected her appetite). Pearl's favorite thing is to lie on top of you, nudging you to continually pet her, scratch under her chin & behind her ears. She also loves her snacks, including fresh string beans, broccoli, blueberries & blackberries. Pearl is generally social with new people. She coexists with larger & smaller dog; her interest is in people. Pearl has enjoyed playing with a young Jack Russel Terrier mix who initiated the interactions. Pearl is housetrained but you MUST STAY IN THE YARD WITH HER. If not, she will go back inside the doggy door or just sit by the door waiting for you to let her in. Pearl is vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, heartworm negative and on heartworm and flea/tick prevention. Pearl's adoption fee is $100.
