Do you remember the lovable wart-hog Pumbaa who was the buddy of the meerkat Timon in Disney's animated 'Lion King?' Hey there, everyone, I'm Pumbaa, named because my 'hakuna matata' (no worries) lifestyle also got me into trouble. That is, my bonded buddy Timon and I were found by a Good Samaritan as we wandered the mean streets of Houston together for who knows how long. I'm a super-sweet, affectionate, loyal, and gentle Catahoula/ German Shepherd fella who weighs 60 pounds and was born about October 2021. My dappled/ merle markings on my head and legs and v-shaped ears show my Catahoula heritage; my bushy tail and medium-coat texture indicate that German Shepherd blood could be coursing through my veins. I'm very playful, so I'm perfect with all hoomans - including kids - as well as other dogs. Catahoulas are the only dog breed to have originated in Louisiana, where we are used for hunting/ tree dogs, watchdogs, and stock dogs. Adults are well-muscled and powerful dogs who are renown for their agility and stamina. We take our work seriously but are loving and loyal family companions at home. An active family who likes outdoor exercise like walking, jogging, hiking, or playing Frisbee at the park would be a perfect fit for me. True confessions: Catahoulas require a firm hand because we can be independent and protective. I'm dreaming of playing Frisbee at the dog park or at least a vigorous walk with my new hoomans.
