About Dixie

DIXIE is a 1 year old, 9.3 pound Shih Tzu Bichon mix LOCATION: Pensacola FL NEEDS: A loving active home and a fenced yard. HIGHLIGHTS: Who can resist that underbite?? ��%BD%9D%A4��%BD��%BD%8F Dixie was surrendered to us because her owner was going into an assisted living facility and was no longer able to keep her. She was adopted but the older dog in her home did not appreciate her playfulness and energy. Dixie is a sweet girl who can be timid around new people but once she knows a person she will love with her whole heart. If you are looking for a loyal companion, Dixie is your girl! She will follow you everywhere. That being said, you have to be aware of where she is when opening doors that go to an unfenced area. If you tell her to stay before you go outside a door, Dixie will listen. If you don't, she'll be out that door before you know it! Dixie gets along with other dogs and would like having a playful higher energy dog in the home, but would also be fine as an only in a home with kids. She loves to play ball and fetch and run ��%BD����%BDaround with children! We were told she is not good with cats. Dixie does pretty well with her housebreaking. She does not know how to use a doggy door and 90% of the time she waits for outside time to go potty. She loves to explore outside and likes to keep her person in her sight (most of the time). She's not above wanting to go off on adventure and she needs a fenced yard. Dixie does have good energy and likes to play. She will chase a ball but still needs work on bringing it to you. She is not a barker, which is always a plus! At night she sleeps on the floor on a raised bed and loves every minute of it. Dixie has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, spayed, fecal tested, heartworm negative, has had a 12-month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. We do not ship or transport our dogs. *We are a foster-based rescue and do not have a facility. Our dogs live in private homes in and around the Pensacola area until they are adopted.
