Please note that because all of our dogs live in foster homes, we are unable to set up meetings with a dog unless we have a completed adoption application on file. Adoptions must be about an hour of Wilmington, DE in order for our volunteers to be able to conduct an in person home visit. Meet Leia! Leia is a 70lb pitbull mix who was tied up outside her whole life and bred repeatedly. When she was no longer of use, she was surrender to a local shelter. On top of having a hard life, Leia has severe arthritis in her front legs. She receives a monthly anti inflammatory injection as well as a daily pill given several times a day to help her mobility. One of our generous donors will be sponsoring Leias medications for the first year in her adoptive home. Due to her limited mobility, a house with minimal stairs would be preferred. While a fenced in yard would be nice for Leias sunbathing, it is not required. She also goes out frequently and requires 3 meals a day. So she would do best in a household where she is not left alone for extended periods of time. She has a wonderful attitude and despite her arthritis can get where she wants to be especially if it involves a meal! Leia LOVES going for car rides and being around her people. She is a low key gal and enjoys the simple life in life like couch cuddles, walks in her stroller and figuring out food puzzles. She also loves belly rubs and sunbathing by a slider. Due to Leias past interactions with dogs, she would prefer to be your one and only. She is also not a fan of cats. After all her hardships, this baby deserves a happily ever after.
