Wilder is a sensitive, sweet, and soulful two-year-old 50-pound German Shepherd/Boxer-mix looking for the perfect guardian - with another dog in the home. Wilder came from rural Kentucky and loves to play with people, and other dogs. He has discovered the comforts of the couch, toys, and loves trips to Prairie Wolf dog park. He enjoys long walks and cuddling on the couch at the end of the day with his favorite humans and canines. He can be a little cautious and shy when meeting new people, but with a few kind words, a slow approach, and some gentle pets, he offers some tail wags and tons of kisses. Like his namesake, the actor and comedian Gene Wilder, Wilder has a really goofy and silly side and seems to enjoy making his humans laugh. Quick movements and loud voices startle him and sometimes cause him to run, hide, urinate, and tremble in fear, even from people he's very comfortable with so he's best with mindful adults. Wilder is well-behaved in the home and housebroken when kept on a regular schedule. He doesn't do well in a dog crate, but does do well with another dog in the home to keep him company. He is very healthy, neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccines. He is being fostered in Chicago, Illinois.
