About Brix & Marc

Adoption Fee: $400
Rat Terrier
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Brix and Marc are bonded 9-year-old brothers, who have been together their whole lives and will only be adopted out together. They had been dropped off at a vet clinic for euthanasia when the former owner felt unable to continue taking care of them. Fortunately another client of the vet agreed to take them in, but the new environment with the hubbub of children, farm animals, and multiple other dogs (particularly one who couldn't refrain from trying to attack Brix and Marc) proved to be unsettling to the two boys. So after a stressful five months, they were transferred to New Rattitude to give them a quieter, more relaxed home, and in their NR foster home, they're really showing their sweet, gentle, affectionate nature. Quiet, rather reserved rat terriers, both boys LOVE pats and lap time, contentedly leaning into you for snuggles. New situations or new people make them somewhat apprehensive, especially Brix, who often waits for Marc to take the lead before he warms up fully. Marc, who weighs 17 lbs., and 15-lb. Brix get along wonderfully together, always by each other's side and with never a squabble. On leash they walk extremely well, keeping an even pace right at their handler's side. If they aren't being walked together, however, the one in front will keep pausing and glancing back, and the one in the rear will keep trying to catch up to his brother. Both boys meet new dogs with mild curiosity; they're friendly but mostly just ignore any other dogs in the home. In the house-training department, they started out earning a D because of their anxiety about being outside in a new environment. With familiarity, however, plus a set schedule with plenty of outdoor opportunities and patient human vigilance, they have increased their grade to a B+ and now have their sights set on honor roll. They will undoubtedly need to undergo refresher house-training in their new adoptive home. Because Brix and Marc are particularly comfortable with men, they are wishing for a new daddy to lavish their love on, and while they won't prohibit Dad from having a female companion, she'll likely always be playing second fiddle in their eyes.
