About April

APRIL is a 12 week old (DOB: 2/26/23), 6.2 pound Min Pin mix puppy LOCATION: Pensacola FL NEEDS: LOCAL ADOPTION ONLY, active family plus a play buddy would be great. HIGHLIGHTS: Very active and sweet puppy! Look at this cutie!!! April was being given away because her owner didn't have time for her. She is a sweet ball of pure energy! She snuggles during tv time and likes kisses, but she likes playing more! April loves to play and play with her fur-family and gets along well with all size dogs. We have not had her around cats, but she probably would try to play with them too. She would be a great addition to a family with kids, although she is a little girl so it needs to be kids who are a little bit older and familiar with small dogs. She has a healthy appetite and likes to snack on goldfish mid-day. April LOVES to be outside playing and exploring. She's way too small to be outside by herself so she does need to be supervised, and a fenced yard would be awesome to keep her from sneaking off on an adventure. She has used a doggie door but doesn't fully understand the concept and sometimes will only go in or out one way. April is teething but so far has not sampled any furniture or shoes. Her Foster mom makes sure she has a nice supply of chew bones and toys appropriate for chewing. Her potty training is 'going', but she's a puppy still and she needs more training, lots of positive reinforcement and a good routine. When April can't get outside she tries to hit the pee pads and is always close, if not perfectly on, the pad. 90% of the time she makes it throughout the night, but she will whine to go out if she can't hold it. Then she goes right back to sleep! At night she sleeps in an X-pen with another dog, but we are sure she would love to snuggle up next to her family in the big bed at night if given the chance. April is a sweet and smart little girl who is going to make her new family very happy! She has been to the vet for a wellness check, has had two sets of puppy shots, has been fecal tested, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. When she is 6 months old she will get her spay and we will also have any remaining baby teeth removed at that time. Both of those procedures are covered by the rescue at one of our vets. You just need to get her there! Because she does have a pending vet appointment she is local adoption only which is within a 1 hour drive max to Pensacola. Applicants should live within a 1-2 hour drive to Pensacola. Puppies, dogs with pending vet appointments, and dogs with behavioral issues are only adoptable within a 1 hour drive to Pensacola. Most others we will consider within a 5-hour drive. We do not ship or transport our dogs. *We are a foster-based rescue and do not have a facility. Our dogs live in private homes in and around the Pensacola area until they are adopted. *We review multiple applications for each dog and pick the best fit.
