ARTEY is a 7 year old, 13 pound mixed breed pup LOCATION: Pensacola FL NEEDS: Fenced yard preferred HIGHLIGHTS: Friendly, active, and happy! Artey is a sweet dog who was found as a stray. He is a very happy little guy who really loves getting kisses, although he can be stingy giving them! He likes attention and enjoys being with his people very much. He's not necessarily clingy but he likes to be nearby. Artey would make a great buddy dog to take everywhere. He is very friendly and never meets a stranger. Artey also gets along well with other dogs. He does have some separation anxiety but that is getting better as he spends more time in the home and is learning that his people consistently come back. We believe he would be best in a home where he is not left alone too much or has a doggy friend. We have not had him around cats, but his foster family has chickens and he hasn't given them a second look. He has been around children and is good with them. Artey enjoys activity and likes to be outside exploring the yard with his foster family. He is good on a leash and would probably really like to go on regular walks. He is very close to fully housebroken and he's doing very well with positive reinforcement and a solid routine. Artey is very curious and smart and should not be left out unsupervised or off leash in an unsecured area. We believe that his sense of adventure would have him trying to get out of a yard (just to see what lies beyond) or wandering off, which may be how he came to be a stray in the first place. At night Artey sleeps in the bed, usually snuggled between his foster mom and dad. He has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, neutered, fecal tested, heartworm negative, has had a 12 month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. Artey is a very good boy who will be a wonderful companion to almost any family! Puppies, dogs with pending vet appointments, and dogs with behavioral issues are only adoptable within a 1 hour drive to Pensacola. We do not ship or transport our dogs. Applicants should live within a 5 hour drive to Pensacola. *We are a foster-based rescue and do not have a facility. Our dogs live in private homes in and around the Pensacola area until they are adopted. *We review multiple applications for each dog and pick the best fit.
