HIGHLIGHTS: Laid back & sweet companion! Lewis came to us after his mom came upon some rough times. She loved him very much and tried everything she could to keep him, but it finally got to the point where that wasn't possible anymore. Lewis is a sweet boy who was very nervous when he came into rescue and we noticed that he seemed to be having some issues with his mouth. Turns out that Lewis was in a lot of pain. He had a terrible infection in his mouth and gums, and both ears were infected. We took care of those issues right away and he began feeling much better. Lewis is an easy going, pleasant fellow. He likes to sit on or near you and rub up against you. He will be a good little companion to snuggle in the chair with while sharing popcorn and watching movies! He loves his person and is always so excited to see them. He greets them (and most people) with lots of tail wags and kisses! Lewis was an only dog in his prior home, but gets along with all the other small calm dogs in his foster home. He loves to play with toys and has gotten the other dogs in his foster home to start playing with him. We have not had him around cats and we think he'd be happier without kids. Lewis is not crazy about wearing a harness and could use a little more practice walking on a leash. We think he would prefer a home with a fenced yard. He knows how to use the doggy door and goes out to potty. The only times he has an accident in the home were when he could not go out for a period of time. He will go to the door and whine to go out and he appears to be about 98% housebroken. At night he likes to sleep at the bottom of the big bed. Lewis has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, neutered, fecal tested, heartworm negative, has had a 12-month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. When he had his dental he lost 23 teeth (don't worry he has plenty more!), and he is good to go! Lewis would love a nice quiet home with a family looking for a calm sweetheart of a boy and a companion! To meet a dog and be considered for adoption the first step is to submit an adoption application for review using the link. *We are located in Pensacola Florida. Puppies, dogs with pending vet appointments, and dogs with behavioral issues are only adoptable within a 1 hour drive to Pensacola. Most others we will consider within a 5-hour drive. We do not ship or transport our dogs. *We are a foster-based rescue and do not have a facility. Our dogs live in private homes in and around the Pensacola area until they are adopted. *We review multiple applications for each dog and pick the best fit. We are not always able to respond to every application.
