About Jade

Jade is a sweet 9-year-old Chihuahua that weighs approximately 12 pounds. She is a former breeder dog that is still learning that humans are OK. She loves to cuddle, get love, and butt scratches from her human - as long as it's on her terms. She has really blossomed in foster care and comes up to her foster mom to put her paws up to be picked up, carried, snuggled, loved, and get her butt scratches. However, if you go to her while she's laying in her bed, she will growl to warn you not to touch her and can get snarky with you. She's still scared of humans coming at her, so patience is needed. If you let her come to you, you will have a snuggle bug for life! Because of her nervousness, she will not be placed in a home with any children under 12 years old. She is dog-friendly and will even play with other dogs. However, if the other dog gets too rough or paws at her when she's not ready, she will scream like she's been damaged (also typical Chi behavior). A bit of an overreaction by a Chi. �٪� She loves her crate and will bury herself under the covers and snuggle down for bedtime. She is potty trained and is great on a leash! She gets so excited for walk time that she jumps and jumps for her leash to be put on! Jade would do well in a shared wall home (apartment or townhouse) or a home with a backyard. She will bond very tightly to her human pretty quickly, but strangers still make her nervous. So, in her new home, we recommend that when you have visitors come into your home that she be crated until she can adjust to the new person in the house. She will protect her human from the stranger danger that infiltrated her home. We are unsure how Jade feels about cats, but we suspect that she will be fine if they leave her alone and don't bring out the kitty claws. Jade had a dental and she lost three teeth, but now she's got some pearly whites! She is spayed, UTD on her vaccines, microchipped, and HW-. Jade is looking for a new forever home that is fairly calm, will allow her the time to decompress in the transition from her foster home, and has a very patient and breed savy new owner.
