Chihuahua mix

Are they dogs? Are they rats? We just can't tell!! Meet Ratamonga, Pinky, Ratatouille and Berry. This family of four came to SNIPSA from Bexar County Animal Control and they were found in very rough shape! As you can plainly see, they're missing most of their fur, which is how they earned their names. This is because they have been suffering from demodex mange, a non-contagious mange that causes their hair to fall out (alongside a number of other uncomfortable symptoms). That said, there's no need to worry! They have already started on their transformation with a dose of Nexgard and medicated baths. In a few weeks, all of their hair will grow back and they resemble normal, healthy pups once again! This sweet group of four has been through a lot, but it's obvious they're ready to love again. Despite being a little wary upon arrival, they have come out of their shells very quickly in their foster homes. So far, we've learned that they enjoy exploring in the backyard, snuggling up on soft pillows and playing with other canines. They are friendly with humans and have even proved themselves to be tolerant of children. Plus, they have just about mastered their potty training! These friends are sure to stay on the smaller side, being Chihuahua mixes. Due to their portable size, they will fit into just about any home and will also be able to accompany you on all of your trips around town. Chihuahuas are generally great family dogs that require a minimum of attention and exercise to keep them happy. So, if you're looking for the perfect pipsqueak to keep you company, consider adopting a RAT from SNIPSA!
