About GUNNER

GUNNER is a 3 year old, 24.3 pound male Mini Schnauzer LOCATION: Pensacola FL NEEDS: Fenced yard and a doggy friend HIGHLIGHTS: Sweet and friendly boy, housebroken. Gunner was surrendered to us through not fault of his own. His people got a divorce and neither was able to keep him. Gunner is a very sweet boy, who loves cuddles, scratches and attention. Any time he can catch his foster mom's eye, he will come over and put his front paws on her lap so she will scratch his ears and side. He follows her from room to room and likes to lie by her feet when she is sitting on the sofa. He is a polite fellow who waits to be invited up on the bed at nighttime. Gunner is good with other dogs about his size or smaller and would like to have a dog companion in his new home to play with. We have not had him around kids, but think he would be okay with them although since he is not tested we prefer older kids who are familiar with dogs. We do not know how he would be with cats. We have not seen him play with toys yet, but he's shown interest in a squeaker and will probably like to have squeaky toys once he settles into his new home. Gunner loves long walks, and is pretty good on the leash, though he does pull a little. He initially barked at his dog walking companion, but settled down into friendly walking after about 15 minutes. He does bark at other dogs and squirrels he sees while walking. He rides ok in the car. Gunner seems to be housebroken and does know how to use a doggy door. He prefers to be outside with his person and not alone. He has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, neutered, fecal tested, heartworm negative, has had a 12 month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. Puppies, dogs with pending vet appointments, and dogs with behavioral issues are only adoptable within a 1 hour drive to Pensacola. *We are a foster-based rescue and do not have a facility. Our dogs live in private homes in and around the Pensacola area until they are adopted. *To meet a dog or be considered for adoption you must first submit an adoption application for review.
