About SAMMY

Adoption Fee: $400
Maltese / Poodle
Sex: Male

This is a LONG STORY...and not quite sure where to begin..I won't be able to give u all the details here because Im limited to the amt of words I can put here but if u read everything&u think that u might fit the bill after reading whats written here, when we speak, I would love to tell u the story as to how this transpired. I've been doing independent rescue in Miami for over 30 yrs&although I love every single dog, once in a while 1 comes along that pulls more at my heart strings. Little Sammy is that 1. 2021 I was diagnosed with Cancer. Im currently on treatment. I have not taken any more rescues into my home since 2017. I pulled Sammy for an adopter who backed out on me. Sammy needs more than what I can provide him at this time and my quality of life is tremendously compromised because of my current condition, so in turn so is his, and I feel he deserves more than I can provide him. In this respect, Sammy urgently needs to find the forever home... he needs to be with someone who is home more than I am. For now let me tell u a couple of things that u should know abt this little boy&also let me tell u abt a couple of things that I'm going to require if u want to consider him . AFTER MUCH EFFORT, HE IS HAVING HIS LEFT EYE REMOVED. I'M TRYING TO SAVE HIS RIGHT EYE, BUT IT MIGHT HAVE TO BE REMOVED AS WELL...POOR SAMMY IS TOTALLY BLIND.SOMEONE SERIOUSLY NEGLECTED THIS POOR BABY I'VE HAD HIM SINCE EASTER SUNDAY. PLEASE have experience w/a blind dog. We are hoping he will regain some vision in the right eye, but it's very unlikely. Pls have a very strong vet ref stating this. Im only going to adopt him to somebody that I know is emotionally, financially& physically capable of giving him the love&care he needs. Now Im here to make sure he spends the rest of his years loved&cared for w/quality&compassion. Im not sure of his age since his eyes were so neglected, its hard for the vet to pinpoint. Gret news is his teeth are great, now that he has had a dental. Not sure of his breed either. Always say 'rescue' is my FAVORITE breed. He would be a great companion to someone who wants to care for a special needs baby who works from home or a retired human or couple who arent too old to care for him who just want to love&be loved&have the knowledge patience&understanding of his needs&more time available, as my issue is Im dealing with multiple dogs&still have to leave the house some days to work long hours. Pls don't call to adopt him if u are on a fixed income as little Sammy will need good care&no sacrifices. He's currently living w/me&I'm not going to demote him, only promote him. He's good about doing his business outside for the most part&another positive even though a male, he DOESN'T lift his leg..he squats!...Short, multiple outings would be best. He doesn't use pee pee pads..cant really see where they are& he's great in a crate, as a matter of fact, although I don't want him to LIVE in a crate, it's best he sleeps in it& is in it when you're not home for his protection and security. He's still energetic, very loving &seems to be happy. He needs&craves tons of love. Probably not best for children, due to being blind. He's very loving&loves to be loved. He's also fine with dogs&cats but probably not best to have him in a home with them, since he tends to bump into them, it can be quite agitating to another animal and to him. He must be crated when in a vehicle. He must be taken to the water bowl several times a day, since he cant find it on his own, but he is starting to know where it is. All this takes patience. You must have that. I really want to keep him but with my diagnosis&other pets in the home, I want to give him the opportunity to find love¬ hold him back. My promise to Sammy is to make sure I find him the best forever home as long as that might take me w/ one who will love him for the remainder of his life &continue to let me know how wonderful he is doing&allow me to be a part of his journey. He is a well behaved, sweet, dog. He just cant see&needs a lot of guidance, patience&plenty of love&TLC. Sammy will be your best friend. Will you be his?? I'm looking to find the perfect person/couple that will give him as much as I am, if not more, for the rest of his life. HE IS THE FRIEND U ARE LOOKING FOR&WILL LOVE U 4EVER...WILL U LOVE HIM? .All shots are up to date &he will be adopted w/any/all medical records from opthamologist&all that has been done for this little guy. He will come to u neutered, microchipped (AND MICROCHIP WILL REMAIN IN MY NAME INDEFINITELY), heartworm negative&on heartworm&flea/tick prevention& if u adopt him u MUST keep him on both& up to date with yearly check ups& vaccines, to include visits to opthamologist. A phone interview, home check, vet reference and rehoming fee of $400 will be required to adopt little Sammy...
