About SAMMY

Adoption Fee: $400
Maltese / Poodle
Sex: Male

This is a LONG STORY¬ quite sure where to begin..I won't be able to give u all the details here because Im limited to the amt of words I can put here but if u read everything&u think that u might fit the bill after reading whats written here, when we speak, I would love to tell u the story as to how this transpired. I've been doing independent rescue in Miami for over 30 yrs&although I love every single dog, once in a while 1 comes along that is a little bit more difficult to have to let go of&pulls more at my heart strings. Little Sammy is that 1. It's going to be very hard for me to let him go, but I know it's in his best interest, if I happen to find the right match. 2017 I took the first step&said 'My name is Heather&I have a problem& it's not drugs or alcohol.. it is saving dogs! Made a decision that I couldnt save every dog, although I could try to 1 at a time&I wouldnt take any more dogs home&I kept my promise. up until now. 2021 I was diagnosed with Cancer. Im currently on treatment. For now let me tell u a couple of things that u should know abt this little boy&also let me tell u abt a couple of things that I'm going to require if u want to consider him . HE MAY HAVE TO HAVE ONE EYE REMOVED AT SOME POINT&I'M TRYING TO SAVE HIS VISION ON HIS RIGHT EYE..SOMEONE SERIOUSLY NEGLECTED THIS BABY.. I'VE HAD HIM SINCE EASTER SUNDAY&WILL SAY SINCE THEN SINCE IM FOLLOWING PROTOCOL WE HAVENT HAD TO REMOVE THE EYE&PROGRESS HAS BEEN MADE. So pls have experience w/a blind dog, because there is a good chance he might not have any vision at all, he can gain some a little or lose it more&pls have a very strong vet ref stating this. Im only going to adopt him to somebody that I know is emotionally financially& physically capable of giving him the love&care he needs. Now Im here to make sure he spends the rest of his years loved&cared for w/quality&compassion. Im not sure of his age since his eyes were so neglected, its hard for the vet to pinpoint. He also needs a dental too which I plan to do asap but have first been focusing on his eyes which need more attention. Not sure of his breed either. Always say 'rescue' is my FAVORITE breed. He would be a great companion to a retired human or couple who just want to love&be loved&have the knowledge patience&understanding of his needs&more time available, as my issue is Im dealing with multiple dogs&still have to leave the house some days to work long hours. Pls don't call to adopt him if u are on a fixed income as little Sammy will need good care&no sacrifices. He's currently living w/me&I'm not going to demote him, only promote him. Great news ..he's house trained!! He's good about doing his business outside&another positive even though a male, he DOESN'T lift his leg..he squats!...Short, multiple outings would be best. He doesn't use pee pee pads..cant really see where they are& he's great in a crate, as a matter of fact, although I don't want him to LIVE in a crate, it's best he sleeps in it& is in it when you're not home for his protection and security. He's still energetic, very loving &seems to be happy. He needs&craves tons of love. Probably not best for children, due to being blind. He's very loving&loves to be loved. He's also fine with dogs&cats but probably not best to have him in a home with them, since he tends to bump into them, it can be quite agitating to another animal. He must be crated when in a vehicle. He must be taken to the water bowl several times a day, since he cant find it on his own, but he is starting to know where it is. All this takes patience. You must have that. I really want to keep him but with my diagnosis&other pets in the home, I want to give him the opportunity to find love¬ hold him back. My promise to Sammy is to make sure I find him the best forever home as long as that might take me w/ one who will love him for the remainder of his life &continue to let me know how wonderful he is doing&allow me to be a part of his journey. He is a well behaved, sweet, dog. He just cant see&needs a lot of guidance, patience&plenty of love&TLC. Sammy will be your best friend. Will you be his?? I'm looking to find the perfect person/couple that will give him as much as I am, if not more, for the rest of his life. HE IS THE FRIEND U ARE LOOKING FOR&WILL LOVE U 4EVER...WILL U LOVE HIM? .All shots are up to date &he will be adopted w/any/all medical records from opthamologist&all that has been done for this little guy. He will come to u neutered, microchipped (AND MICROCHIP WILL REMAIN IN MY NAME INDEFINITELY), heartworm negative&on heartworm&flea/tick prevention& if u adopt him u MUST keep him on both& up to date with yearly check ups& vaccines, to include visits to opthamologist. A phone interview, home check, vet reference and rehoming fee of $400 will be required to adopt little Sammy... PLS DONT EMAIL..PLS CALL Heather 954-534-5606 w/any questions/interest.
