Knox is a gentle ~6yr old teddy bear of a guy. At the shelter he tested well with both male and female dogs and was even great with the shelter's resident horse. He is a smart guy and by physical appearance, he has been neglected. We can't wait to see his coat shine after a good bath, quality groceries and a good brushing. Knox likes to play and it seems that everything is brand new for him. It is likely someone never spent time engaging him with words or commands, but not to worry- Shepherds are quick learners and Knox has a big heart and a desire to please. Knox has some super ,spiderman climbing skills and can climb a 6-8' fence. This is something we often see with dogs who have been neglected in a backyard and left without interaction, are bored silly and escape for stimulation and attention. German Shepherds are not lawn ornaments and require one to one family time. Engagement and positive reinforcement training will be a must for him, as it is for all of our dogs, and once he has bonded with his human and knows the kind of love was always deserving of, we are sure he will bond in a big way and never want to be away from that.
