About CADBURY

CADBURY is a 6 month old, 6.7 pound male Chihuahua puppy LOCATION: Pensacola FL NEEDS: Fenced yard, playmate HIGHLIGHTS: Snuggly, kissy puppy. Cadbury was spotted in the woods with another little dog at a common dumping area. A couple people tried to get them but they were so afraid and wouldn't come to anyone. Finally one pup was caught, and using her as a lure Cadbury was caught a few hours later. Good thing too, because as his rescuer was scooping him up a coyote was lurking nearby watching the whole thing! This sweet little pup would not have made it through the night. The dogs were both terrified from their experience and at first we fostered them together but we recently moved them into separate foster homes because they were too dependent on each other. (Look up Littermate Syndrome.) Now that he's away from his sibling Cadbury is more open to being picked up for snuggles and is turning into a little love bug. He is friendly, but timid and coming along well the more he feels safe. He follows his foster mom like a little shadow. When she sits down, he jumps in her lap and gives her the sweetest kisses. He loves to snuggle up under blankets and at night he will sleep in the big bed all night long. You can tell he wants to be loved and it's sad that he was in a position where he was tossed away, unwanted and afraid. Cadbury gets along with all of the pups in his foster home and he likes to play with the other little dogs his size. His new home should have another little dog in it for him to play with and to help him gain confidence. He has been around older kids and has been fine. He has not been around cats. Cadbury is working on leash training and potty training and doing well. His foster mom says he is mostly potty trained and starting to walk on a leash better. He does need a fenced yard though, and a harness and a leash when taken outside of a secure area. He's still too afraid of strangers and the unknown and will run if scared. His foster mom has taken him on an excursion or two in a backpack so he feels safe while he's being exposed to different people and places and he was pretty quiet taking everything in. Cadbury has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, fecal tested, heartworm negative, has been started on heartworm prevention, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. His neuter is scheduled for next week at one of our vets and is covered by the rescue. Puppies, dogs with pending vet appointments, and dogs with behavioral issues are only adoptable within a 1 hour drive to Pensacola. *We are a foster-based rescue and do not have a facility. Our dogs live in private homes in and around the Pensacola area until they are adopted. *To meet a dog or be considered for adoption you must first submit an adoption application for review.
