About Junior

JUNIOR is a 3 year old, 10 pound Poodle Chihuahua mix LOCATION: Pensacola FL NEEDS: Fenced yard and a playful doggy friend. HIGHLIGHTS: Sweet and housebroken! Loves other dogs. Junior was surrendered to us with 10 other dogs after they were abandoned by the owner. He was the most timid of the group and had been picked on by the other dogs, but he has blossomed in his foster home! Junior is still a little skittish with strangers and might take a day or two to adjust but once he does he's very affectionate, loves to be petted, loves belly rubs, and loves to cuddle up next to you and give Eskimo kisses. He will bump up against you and rub his head on you to be petted. Junior is not necessarily a lap dog but he is always close to you and follows you around the house. Sometimes he will shy away when reached for, but his foster mom is teaching him 'stay' and he's doing well with it. He is fine to pick up and give kisses to, and he loves to hear that he's a good boy! Junior will greet you happily when you come home and his little fluffy tail is almost always wagging. At night he will either sleep in the big bed or in a dog bed next to the big bed. Junior is an active dog who loves nothing more than having a playful dog friend! His new home definitely needs to have another dog in it as he gets a lot of confidence from a dog buddy and loves to play with them. When he meets a new dog friend he puts his paw up in a high five asking them to play with him, it is so cute! He would probably be best with a dog about his size or smaller. Junior has been in a home with cats and decided that he's not a fan, and he likes to tell them that by barking at them. We have not tested him with kids but think he would be fine with older kids who are familiar with small dogs. Junior is 100% housebroken and will let you know when he has to go out. He loves to go outside with the other dogs and he loves to run around the yard, bouncing around with his ears flopping and tail waving. He does not walk on a leash and absolutely needs a fenced yard. Junior likes to play with toys, especially squeaky ones that he can chew on. He would be super happy to have a big basket of toys in his new home. He also likes chewing on ice cubes and has stolen a slipper from his foster dad, but only to stash it in his doggy bed! This sweet boy is more than ready to meet his new family! He has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, neutered, fecal tested, heartworm negative, has had a 12-month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. He is a very good dog who will complete any family! Puppies, dogs with pending vet appointments, and dogs with behavioral issues are only adoptable within a 1 hour drive to Pensacola. Most others we will consider within a 5-hour drive. We do not ship or transport our dogs. *We are a foster-based rescue and do not have a facility. Our dogs live in private homes in and around the Pensacola area until they are adopted.
