About Phoenix

Adoption Fee: $350.00
Yorkie mix
Age: Senior
Sex: Female

PHOENIX is a 9 year old, 12.8 pound female Poodle mix LOCATION: Pensacola FL NEEDS: Fenced yard, small dog friend, love and care! HIGHLIGHTS: Very happy and sweet! Phoenix is a beautiful girl who was surrendered with several other dogs from a bad situation. When we went to pick the dogs up we noticed that she had a terrible cough. The person who had her told us that she had been coughing for a long, long time. We took her to the vet immediately and after a full examination and x-rays, we found she had the worst case of pneumonia the vet had ever seen. It's very likely if we hadn't gotten her when we did that Phoenix would not have survived. Her lungs were almost completely full of fluid. The good news is that after medication, good care and rest in a comfortable home, she got better and became a happy and very playful little lady! She did have one more minor setback and needed one more round of antibiotics and is now ready to find her furever home! Phoenix is a very loving dog who snuggles up next to her mom on a pillow. She loves getting belly rubs and sitting with her person wherever they are. She gives the best kisses and always happily greets her foster family at the door when they come home. At night Phoenix sleeps in the big bed with her foster siblings and foster mom. Now that she is feeling so much better, she does not act her age at all! She has good energy and wants to play with her foster siblings. She even runs a bit around the house and outside. Phoenix gets along well with other dogs, and likes every dog she meets. She has never been an only dog and would be happiest in a home with another fur sibling. She has not been around cats or kids and we don't know how she would be with either. We don't think cats would be a problem and think kids age 12 and up would be fine for her. Phoenix is not housebroken, but we are working on it. She is going to require a family with some patience to help her learn. She rides fairly well in a car with only a small amount of nervousness. She does not walk well on a leash and harness and she would be safest in a home with a fenced yard. Phoenix has a great appetite and loves her nap time. She is really loving her life living in a home getting lots of love, food, and attention! Phoenix has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, spayed, fecal tested, surprisingly heartworm negative, has had a 12-month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. Like many of the dogs that she was rescued with, Phoenix has luxating patellas. She gets around perfectly and does not seem to be in any pain or discomfort. Phoenix very much deserves the best furever home!
