About Miles

MILES is a 1 year old, 18 pound terrier mix LOCATION: Pensacola FL NEEDS: Secure fenced yard, love and attention, no young kids. HIGHLIGHTS: Cute and fun love bug. Housebroken! Miles was originally found in New Orleans as a stray. A family adopted him, but he did not do well with their young daughter so he found his way to the rescue. Miles is very cuddly and kissy and loves his people. He is a super happy love bug! He is the type of dog that you can take anywhere. He likes to go on walks and rides and especially likes visits to the beach. He is a social pup who is not bothered at all by other dogs or strangers. Miles does not like being left alone too much and is always happy when he can be with his people. He is good with other dogs of all sizes and would be happiest in a home where he had a dog friend or three, but he would also be ok as an only if he is with an active family who can spend time with him. We know he wasn't good with a younger child but teenagers would be fine for him. We do not know how he would be with cats, but are pretty sure he would chase them. Miles has good energy and loves to run and play. He is particularly fond of toys! Or we should say he is particularly fond of destroying toys! He LOVES squeaky toys can just constantly on a hunt to get the squeakers out of them. He definitely needs some tough toys to play with! Miles is 100% housebroken and leash trained, and is an eager walker. When he first got to his foster home he tried to run out of a door or gate if the opportunity presented itself, but now he has learned to sit/stay when doors are opened (not 100% but he's doing great). He would also try to dig out of a yard but now that he's settled into his foster home he does not do that anymore. He'll zoom around, chase butterflies, and check the fence perimeter, but he'd rather come inside when his foster mom does. To be safe she does not let him outside in the yard by himself and we recommend that he is fully supervised outside in his new home as well. He's the kind of dog who needs activity and stimulation so he doesn't get bored and want to take off exploring. Miles is not a fan of baths or grooming but he is the kind of dog who's going to need to be brushed or groomed regularly so he doesn't get painful mats. He can be a barker when people come home or visit or walk by the house when he's peeking out the window, but nothing more than any normal dog. At night he will sleep in a dog bed, or under the bed or in a padded chest at the foot of his foster mom's bed. He's such a lovable guy! Miles has been to the vet for a wellness check, is neutered,up to date on shots, fecal and heartworm tested, has had a 12-month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. He is heartworm positive and has been started on treatment which is covered by the rescue until he tests negative. If you are looking for a fun, active companion, here's your boy!
