About Scrappy

SCRAPPY is a 1.5 year old, 12.8 pound cream colored Poodle Chihuahua mix. LOCATION: Pensacola FL NEEDS: Another small dog, fenced yard. HIGHLIGHTS: Sweet and snuggly. Scrappy is a sweet little guy who came to us out of a bad situation with several other dogs. Like most of those dogs, he is very loving and adores attention. He loves sitting with his person getting hugs and being petted. Scrappy can be shy with strangers but it doesn't last long! He is happy to make new friends who will scratch his little head and tell him he's a good boy! So far he is mostly calm and quiet in his foster home but that may change once he has settled in and becomes comfortable. He does not bark as of yet. He sleeps in the big bed at night and naps on the couch during the day, loves treats and eats well. Scrappy gets along well with all the dogs in his foster home and we think he's going to be happiest with another small dog in his home. He has not been tested with cats or kids, but older kids should be ok for him. Living in a home is a change for him and he's loving it! However he is not housebroken. All of the dogs from that group are picking up potty training fairly well and we think he will get the hang of it, especially when he's in a home with fewer dogs and is fixed. Scrappy is also not leash trained and should have a home with a fenced yard. He gets a little nervous riding in the car and we are sure that's because he's not being used to it. He was pretty matted when we got him and he was shaved down. When his coat grows back he's going to be even cuter! He will need to be brushed and groomed regularly to keep those painful mats away! Scrappy has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, fecal and heartworm tested, has had a 12-month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. He is heartworm positive and has started his treatment which is covered by the rescue until he is negative. His neuter will be scheduled at one of our vets soon and is also covered by the rescue. He has luxating patellas and joint supplements would be great for him! Scrappy is a super sweet and cute boy looking for a loving home to call his own. Puppies, dogs with pending vet appointments, and dogs with behavioral issues are only adoptable within a 1 hour drive to Pensacola. *We are a foster-based rescue and do not have a facility. Our dogs live in private homes in and around the Pensacola area until they are adopted. *To meet a dog or be considered for adoption you must first submit an adoption application for review. This does not obligate you to adopt a dog. *We review multiple applications for each dog and pick the best fit. We are not always able to respond to every application.
