Name: Cletus Age: Born April 2022 Breed: Mixed breed, medium sized Sex: Male, neutered Location: Orleans Parish, LA 'Cletus is a cuddler and loves his treats!' His owner also tells us that Cletus plays nicely with her other dog. She's looking for a rescue or adopter for him. Vet Information: Cletus is up to date on rabies, neutered, and microchipped. He is heartworm negative. It is suspected that Cletus was born blind. Otherwise, we are told that he is a very healthy puppy who loves people. Owner Report: Cletus was a stray found emaciated and roaming the streets. Cletus's original owner adopted him from a shelter when he was about six months old with the intent to rehome him because he was going to be euthanized because he is blind. She rehomed Cletus once, but he is now back with her. He is an indoor dog with the run of the house. Cletus is house broken and leash trained. He's an outgoing pup who is known to be good with men, women, and teenagers, as well as female dogs. Currently, Cletus lives with a female dog and three indoor cats who are his owner's fosters. She tells us that Cletus tends to want to find them and treat them as though they were toys. She strongly feels this is due to him not knowing they are actually live animals. He would most likely do best in a home without cats. Cletus can be possessive with food. She tells us, 'I believe it is the fact that he was so emaciated when I got him off 'death row' is probably why. He growls and lunges when he is eating but this is only at another animal. When it is feeding time, I separate him from my pack and that has worked out fine so far. He is not human aggressive at all, food, toys, etc.' His owner says that he shows dominance with other males, but she doesn't feel that he is aggressive. He has no bite history. Cletus was great with female dogs and puppies he met. His owner believes it is a dominance thing when it comes to males, but he does not show aggression to them. She tells us that Cletus is really not an aggressive dog at all. She has not had him around any small children, but he did very well with pre teens and teenagers. The only reason he was on the euthanization list was because the shelter deemed him 'unadoptable' due to him being blind. She tells us that Cletus is truly a really sweet guy. Cletus adapts well to new situations and surroundings, doing well in any environment. He has puppy energy and loves to 'touch', occasionally jumping until human contact is made then he calms down, according to his owner. He probably would not be suitable at a home with very small kids as he does jump occasionally for touches. Please email [email protected] if you're interested in Cletus! Please note that we will ask for a vet reference. **Owner Surrender Disclaimer: These are blind and visually impaired dogs who are living in homes, but their owners can no longer keep them.
