Look at this happy pup! ALLEGRA is a 5 year old, 16.6 pound female Westie mix. LOCATION: Pensacola FL NEEDS: Love and a fenced yard! HIGHLIGHTS: Friendly, pretty girl *Please read to the end of the post for adoption information.* Allegra is a sweet girl who is just getting used to her foster home. She was found a stray and taken to the shelter. No one came for her so we brought her to rescue to find her new home. Allegra is friendly and likes to snuggle close to her person on the sofa and follows her foster mom around the house. At night she snuggles up close in the big bed. Allegra tolerates her foster sister, but will growl at her if she wants to get up on the sofa and sit with her and her foster mom. Her foster mom gave her a chew bone, and although she didn't particularly want it, Allegra took it, then sat on a chair with it and growled at her foster sister, even though she wasn't paying any attention to her. Her foster sister has also tried to play with Allegra, who just grumbles in return. We know that makes her seem like she's a grouchy dog (with other dogs, never people) but her foster sister is kind of an in your face type of dog, so Allegra would probably do just fine with a calm dog who doesn't really bother her too much or as an only. We have not had her around cats or kids. Based on her grumbling with the other dog trying to play with her and her treat protectiveness, we think kids probably wouldn't be a great idea. Allegra is mostly house broken, and will go out to the back yard, but prefers that her person hangs out there with her. She does sometimes get up in the middle of the night to potty in the house, but a nice long walk before bed would probably help with that. Allegra rides well in the car and she has just started playing with squeaky toys a bit. Based on the fact that she was found as a stray we would like her to have a home with a fence yard to help keep her safe in the future. Allegra has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, fecal tested, heartworm negative, has had a 12-month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. She does need to be spayed still and that will be done at one of our vets and is covered by the rescue.
