About Sky

SKY is a 2 year old, 38.6 pound female Brittany Spaniel LOCATION: Pensacola FL NEEDS: Secure fenced yard, lots of time with her family. HIGHLIGHTS: Very loving, great companion, housebroken! Sky is such a pretty girl! Even though she is bigger than our usual when we were asked to help her we said yes. Sky was being crated up to 12 hours a day while her person worked. That is no life for a dog. We are going to help Sky find a home where she can be part of a family. She is a sweetheart who deserves the best! When we asked her foster mom to tell us about her she summed it up in one word, sweet! Sky loves affection and loves to be with her person. She is a bit starved for attention and sticks pretty close to her person after she knows them. She loves cuddles and back rubs and is always happy to see her foster mom. At night she sleeps with her foster mom, as close as she can be. Sky will play with stuffed toys on her own, but hasn't played with any other dogs in her foster home. She gets along fine with other dogs, but was not in a home with any. She would be ok as an only dog, but we think she would really enjoy the companionship of another dog. We have not had her around cats or kids. We don't know how she would be with cats, but think older kids would be just fine. Sky seems to be housebroken, she hasn't had a single accident in her foster home. She knows how to use a doggie door. Brittany Spaniels by nature are inquisitive and social. They require activity and stimulation and do best when they can spend lots of time with their family. When they are bored they can seek entertainment elsewhere. Sky is no exception. She has tried to nudge open the glass door at her foster home and also the gate in the fenced yard thinking there may be greener grass on the other side. She will need a very secure fenced yard and she should have supervision outside at least until she knows that she is home. The same goes for the front door or any other place that she could wander from! Sky has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, spayed, fecal tested, heartworm negative, has had a 12-month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. She had a dental this week to address some fractured teeth, likely due to biting on the bars of her kennel while she spent so many hours in there bored and alone. No more of that for Sky! She is a very sweet girl who will be a great companion dog for the right person.
