About Toby

TOBY is a 2 year old, 12.1 pound male Yorkie LOCATION: Pensacola FL NEEDS: Lots of love and attention, fenced yard. No kids HIGHLIGHTS: Good boy who loves affection and attention. Lap dog! Toby and another dog were dumped over a fence in the country. Although Toby was caught, the other dog was not able to be located. (People are still keeping an eye out in that area.) We don't know anything about where Toby came from but all he wants is love. He'll drape himself behind his foster mom and dad like a scarf or will jump up and curl up behind them on a chair. He'll also jump up and sit on the dining room chairs! He'll give you the stare down or bark when he wants attention, which is a lot! His foster mom says he's a cuddler, and he can be a little needy. Toby gets along well with most other dogs and loves to play with them, but he does tend to want all the attention for himself with his person and can be food possessive. We think he would be just fine as an only dog getting lots of attention. He can be hit or miss with kids and a home with kids is not recommended. He has not been tested with cats. Toby marked a bit the first few days in rescue but is doing pretty well now with his potty training. He still needs some work though. He does walk on a leash pretty well. At night he sleeps as close as he can to his foster mom. Toby's best home will be with someone that's around a good amount or has a dog friend (female would be best) for him. He has been to the vet for wellness check, is up to date on shots, neutered, fecal and heartworm tested, has had a 12-month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with lifetime registration.Toby is heartworm positive and has started treatment which is provided by the rescue until he tests negative. He definitely deserves to be treated better in his new home! Puppies, dogs with pending vet appointments, and dogs with behavioral issues are only adoptable within a 1 hour drive to Pensacola. *We are a foster-based rescue and do not have a facility.
