About Maisy

MAISY is a 1 year old, 11.2 pound female Miniature Poodle mix LOCATION: Pensacola FL NEEDS: Playful doggy friend, active family, fenced yard. HIGHLIGHTS: Playful and sweet. Maisy is young, sweet and energetic. She loves destroying squeaky toys, paper napkins, branches from outside, any tissue she can find, and the corner of her foster mom's iPod cover. When her foster mom isn't giving Maisy enough attention, or has been out of the house for more than a few minutes, Maisy jumps with excitement and head butts and nibbles on any body part she can access. This little dog loves attention! When she tires of making her foster mom crazy, she will lay her head on her arm or shoulder and cuddle up close, and everything is good. Maisy sleeps in the bed with her foster mom, and likes to be either by her head, or under the covers by her side. She wakes up about every two hours, and wakes her foster mom up to see if it's play time yet! She starts with licking, then will nibble her ears if she doesn't react. She is learning a sharp 'no' means no. Maisy is relentless in her quest to have a play buddy! She gets the zoomies, and especially likes it when she can get her foster sister to join in. Maisy is constantly trying to get her foster sister to play, and doesn't easily take cues to back off. That said, she will be best in a home with another equally playful dog who loves to bounce around and play as much as she does. We have not had her around kids but assume that she would be great with older kids, she might be a little too much for little ones. We think she would chase a cat joyfully. Maisy is not housebroken yet, but will pee outside when taken out. Her foster mom says she is a stealth pooper - she prefers an out of the way corner. She does need a home with a fenced yard as that will not only help with potty training but will also give her an outlet for her playful energy. Maisy is fine in the car, and needs work on leash training. Also Maisy likes to shower with her foster mom! She has a walk in shower, and Maisy just walks right in and stands under the shower. Makes bath time a lot easier! Maisy is the type of dog who is going to need to be brushed and groomed regularly to keep her from getting painful mats. She has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, fecal tested, heartworm negative, has had a 12-month proheart prevention shock, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration.
