My name is Teddy and I would like to tell you my story, I really don't have much memory of my previous life but I found myself homeless roaming around a rural SC town. Some nice people found me the week before Christmas and they noticed I had a gunshot wound. Thankfully it just grazed my head so I am still alive to tell my story. I am the sweetest boy so I don't know what I did to deserve that. The nice people took me to the rural shelter where it was overcrowded and very scary. The very nice people working at the shelter thinks I am between 2 and 3 years old and I appear to be a Chow/Lab mix. I had been in the shelter for quite a while and no one seemed to notice me. Was it because I am black and I have heard there is such a thing as 'Black Dog Syndrome' where the black dogs seem to get overlooked? Or was it because I was scared and withdrawn retreating toward the back of my kennel? I'm not sure why but I saw other families coming to adopt the other doggies. I was happy for them but very sad being left behind. Well the time came when there was no more space left at the shelter and the shelter had to start euthanizing to free up space for all the unwanted and homeless animals. I don't know what 'euthanize' means but I am guessing it is not good. So, a very nice woman who advocates for the animals at the shelter reached out to a rescue for help. They saw my sad face and knew they had to save my life. They took me on a long car ride and I wasn't sure where I was going but I ended up in a loving foster home and I was so relieved. It took me a few days to decompress coming from the scary shelter but I finally feel safe and secure. There was another foster dog in the home and it was nice having him there. He gave me the confidence I needed but then he found his forever home and I was the only dog in the home. After a few more days, my foster family took in two 14 week old puppies to foster who was also at the same shelter I found myself at. Their time was coming due too. Well, I love playing with the puppies. They are a lot of fun and I enjoy being a fun 'dad'. My foster family says I am such a good, sweet boy and I am excited about finding a forever family to call my own. I have gorgeous shiny black fur with chocolate highlights on my feathered legs. My foster family says I am beautiful both on the inside and the outside. I have a very calm and gentle demeanor. I do great with people, kids, and other dogs. I haven't been around cats but I think I would be fine around them. I am also crate trained and housetrained and walk well on a leash. I also ride well in the car. If you are looking for a sweet, gentle dog with a very calm demeanor, I am the guy for you! You may contact [email protected] for more information or an application.
