About Gunner

GUNNER is a 10 year old, 13.2 pound male Cavalier King Charles Spaniel LOCATION: Pensacola FL NEEDS: Fenced yard. HIGHLIGHTS: Sweet and gentle boy. Gunner came to us as an owner surrender. He wasn't well socialized but he is one of the sweetest boys we've ever had and he's come far! He is friendly to everyone and his tail goes nonstop. He loves all of the dogs in his foster home, even a puppy. He's very laid-back and the only time his foster mom has heard him bark was at the feral cat. We have not had him around kids but we think you would be okay with older kids. He's deaf and will startle easily if he's sleeping and you touch him. But if you put a treat in front of his nose he will wake up gently. He could stand to gain a little weight and was recently treated for an ear infection. Gunner started out lying on the bare floor, but he's figured out a dog bed or a soft blanket is much better! That's what he sleeps in at night and he loves it. Gunner does ok on a leash, and we think with a little practice he would be fine. A fenced yard is preferred though, especially with his deafness. Gunner loves to go out and run around the yard. He will even go out in the pouring rain. Gunner is doing a lot better on his potty training. He still may try to mark, but now that he's neutered that may get better. Overall Gunner is a quiet and super sweet boy! He has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, has been neutered and had a dental where he lost 15 teeth (his tongue hangs out now and it only adds to his cuteness). Gunner has been fecal tested, is heartworm negative, has had a 12-month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. He does have a 5/6 heart murmur and is on lifelong meds for that (Lasix, Benezepril, and Vetmedin). Gunner is a very good boy who will make anyone happy. Puppies, dogs with pending vet appointments, and dogs with behavioral issues are only adoptable within a 1 hour drive to Pensacola. *We are a foster-based rescue and do not have a facility.
