About Gotham

This big boy is Gotham, a 3-year-old purebred rat terrier, who weighs an impressive 28 lbs. He is an eager, happy bundle of energy. He loves playing fetch, walking in the woods, solving food puzzles, snuggling with his humans, and rolling in the grass. Gotham is very smart and trainable. He is good with these commands: sit, stay, wait, lie down, crate, come, look at me, and more. He is very food motivated and so eager to please and learn that his little tail wags and wags in anticipation of the next command, game, or petting. Gotham is reliably house-trained and well-behaved in the house. Gotham is very social with the adult humans he knows and with strangers when he can meet them outside the house. Once he has been introduced to a new person outside and given them a good sniff, they can then go inside together. Gotham is very territorial about his house though, and new people are not welcome inside without an introduction outside first. Gotham walks nicely on a leash, but while he is polite and friendly when meeting adults along the way, he is a very reactive to children and other dogs, especially big dogs. He can play with one or two dogs his size or smaller if properly introduced and supervised. Gotham is looking for an adult family with terrier experience and good training skills. (His reactivity towards kids on walks strongly suggests that he shouldn't be in a household with young children.) He needs a fenced yard for running and playing fetch. He appreciates routine and consistency and lots of physical and mental exercise.
