Looking for an extra special Valentine this year? Miss Mariah is as sweet as they come and is officially ready for her furever home! We have been so blessed to be able to foster this special baby. She's come a long way since she first came to us in December and we have enjoyed every minute of her being in our lives. Mariah is about 5 years old, weighs 35 lbs, and is partially paralyzed in her back legs. Sadly, we do not know how this happened and according to a local vet, it doesn't look like she will be able to regain full function. But, she certainly doesn't let this keep her from enjoying life and hopefully it won't stop her perfect family from opening up their home to her! We don't know exactly what breed(s) she is but our best guess is dachshund mix. She'll give you some cute little hound brays and seal barks when she wants you to bring food to her faster . These are usually accompanied by the cutest little hops you'll ever see as the excitement of food/treats takes over and makes her want to dance! Some things to know about Mariah: She is great with other dogs and cats! She has not been tested around kids but we feel she would be great with them as she has been incredibly sweet with everyone she's met so far. She does not need to be manually expressed to go potty; she is capable of relieving herself on her own. We use a towel as a sling to walk her around and, honestly, I think we are the ones slowing her down because she's constantly 'talking' to us telling us to keep up, she has places to be and plants to sniff! She is able to wag her tail, occasionally stand up on her own, and squat her back legs when she has to pee. She is not on any medications and leads a totally happy, normal life other than needing help getting outside to go to the bathroom/walk around. She has a wheelchair and a drag bag which we use to let her have more mobility when she's not being walked in the sling and to protect her back feet from dragging on the ground and getting scraped up. She came to us with pretty awful wounds on her back paws but thankfully they are all healed up now . Her new family will receive all of these supplies - her wheelchair was even custom made for her! Ideally, she would need a home that could take her out every few hours and not leave her alone for long periods of time on a regular basis. She loves to cuddle and know what's going on/be in the middle of the action. She is a beautiful little spirit full of spunk and love. Please consider opening your heart and home to this sweet girl or share this post so we can help Mariah find her perfect family.
