About Hank

Adoption Fee: $75.00
Treeing Walker Coonhound
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

It is with an extremely heavy heart that I make this post & have made this decision. We are looking to rehome our sweet sweet boy Hank. Hank is a Treeing Walker Coonhound & will be two on June 25th. Although he is a coonhound, he does NOT hunt nor tree. He is neutered & up to date on all of his shots. Hank would do best with a family that has no children and doesn't plan to have children. He is dog selective so likely someone who has no other dogs or we could arrange a meet up to be sure him and another dog in the home would be a good match, however they must eat separately as Hank resource guards his food & treats. He needs someone who is active and would play with him lots everyday as he is an extremely high energy dog. He does well with our cats, but hasn't been tested around others. I want to reiterate that Hank is the absolute sweetest boy, and I love him like he is my child, however he does have his issues and that is the reason for having to make such a heart wrenching decision like this. All of this information I will gladly go more in depth with a potential new family, but for now I want to be up front & honest to say he is extremely protective over his people and while thats a comforting feeling, he has shown aggression towards the people in my life since I have been pregnant & even more since coming home with baby. This breaks my heart as I know he's trying to do what he thinks is right, but inevitably I cannot chance him around my newborn if he's already been like this towards adults. He's also diagnosed with extreme separation anxiety but the vet and I agreed it wasn't fair for him since he is so young to be sedated / on medication his whole life so we deal with it accordingly. He has seen many behavioralists and has been to multiple training programs and none of which have helped him overcome this. He is completely potty trained, and crates up but will bark after about 30 minutes. Hank hates having his nails clipped & will show aggression when it's tried therefore he uses a scratch pad to file them. He is my soul dog and I wish we could make this work, but we have poured so much money, time and energy into him and we're at a point of distrust in him. If you would like more information or have specific questions, feel free to message me. He will have a rehoming fee & will not go to just anyone. Again, this has been an awful decision for us to make & we already feel horribly about it, if you have anything negative to say please keep it to yourself as we are grieving too. We are all he's known for almost two years and this definitely has not been an easy decision but we cannot risk one more aggressive episode especially towards a defenseless infant.
